Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Bhd (MHB) has commenced operation of its newly built Dry Dock No. 3 at its MMHE West Yard in Pasir Gudang, Johor on Dec 19, 2020.

In a press release today, MHB said Dry Dock No. 3 is the latest addition to the company’s existing two dry docks and one floating dock, where repair and refurbishment services on vessels and other marine as well as oil and gas facilities can be carried out.

“It enhances MHB’s dry docking capacity to provide multiple comprehensive works on liquefied natural gas carriers (LNGCs), floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) units, floating storage and offloading (FSO) units and oil rigs,” it said.

Meanwhile, MHB  also  marked a significant milestone with the arrival of the first vessel, CSAV TOCONAO, a container vessel owned by the United Kingdom-based Zodiac Maritime Ltd, to undergo repair and maintenance works in this new dry dock.

Managing director and chief executive officer Pandai Othman said since the collaboration with Zodiac Maritime began from 2001, MHB had completed 25 dry docking repairs for Zodiac Maritime vessels, utilising its dry dock, land-berth and quay facilities to-date.

“This additional dock space has certainly given MHB a competitive edge, to be a step ahead in competing with other players in the marine repair industry in this region,” he said.

Pandai said the company is optimistic that the investment will allow the group to bring in more clients and cater to more vessels in the coming years.

“Since MHB’s incorporation, we have successfully completed more than 3,800 marine repair works, including several life extension and upgrading solutions for various vessels owned and operated by local and international clients,” he said.

Pandai said the company is committed to continue delivering high quality, value-added and cost-efficient service to its clients, with a comprehensive track record of more than 34 FPSO/FSO/ floating storage units (FSU) conversions.

Currently, he said the company also undertook 200 LNGCs dry docking works, including 10 projects for major upgrading and life extension services.
