Icon Offshore secures jack up contract from ConocoPhilips

Malaysia offshore drilling rig contractor, Icon Offshore announced that its subsidiary company, IOSSB has received a letter of award from ConocoPhillips Sarawak for the provision of a Jack-Up Rig, namely Icon Caren for ConocoPhillips Sarawak’s 2022 drilling campaign.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, Icon said that IOSSB has received letter of award for the provision of a jack-up rig to drill three (3) wells plus one (1) well which is expected to commence in the 2nd quarter of 2022 . The Contract has an estimated value of USD9.6 million.

In a statement, Icon managing director Datuk Seri Hadian Hashim noted that Icon Caren has been working continuously since April 2021 and has established a credible track record.

“We look forward to delivering value-added services to ConocoPhillips during the tenure of the contract and at the same time strengthen Icon Caren’s credential to secure future contracts,” he said.

Icon Caren previously known as Perisai Pacific 101 or PP101 is a jackup drilling rig built in 2014 in PPL Shipyard, Singapore with Pacific Class 400 design and registered in Port Klang.

Icon Offshore is an offshore support vessels provider in Malaysia which provides a wide range of logistical support services throughout the entire offshore O&G life cycle from exploration and appraisal, field development and operation and maintenance, through to decommissioning.

In September 2021, ConocoPhilips has terminated the contract for Velesto’s rig, Naga 7 due to an incident earlier this year that tilted and submerged the rig.
